The diet of cattle, as ruminants, is composed mainly of forages. The quality and safety of the forage are therefore essential conditions for obtaining excellent milk and meat, as well as for ensuring optimal herd management. The nutritional requirements of dairy or beef animals change throughout their lives, and their diet must be adjusted accordingly: at each stage, the most appropriate forages must be selected to support the animal and improve the economic efficiency of the farm.
