Alfalfa is widely used in poultry feed for its palatability and digestibility, as well as its high protein content, low fibre, and balanced supply of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants.

The main benefits of using this forage in the nutrition of laying hens, chickens, turkeys, ostriches, ducks and geese included increased reproductive capacity and better quality of meat and eggs. Additionally, the beta-carotene in alfalfa gives egg yolk its deep yellow colour and meat its healthy pink colour.
