Product information

Pellettone is produced from native Mediterranean plants growing in the hills of the Italian region of Romagna, characterised by optimal soil and climate conditions for growing forage suitable to equids.

It contains grass mixtures (Gramineae: Phleum pratense, Lolium italicum, Lolium perenne, Poa pratensis, Dactylis glomerata, Bromus inermis, Bromus catharticus) and alfalfa (Medicago sativa) selected, naturally wilted or dehydratedand cleared of dust.

Pellettone is the ideal basis for a balanced diet of horses and other equids thanks to:

Its high content of cellulose.
Its good levels of crude protein and lysine (essential amino acid).
Its low levels of starch and sugar (below 12%).
Its proper Calcium to Phosphorus ratio.
Its high-energy content compared to other roughage.

For such reasons it is a fibre-based feed of a new class of roughages, both safe and palatable to horses.

Instructions for use

Pellettone’s main application is in the maintenance diet of resting or lightworking horses.

The mid-sized pellets (dispensable by feeder) are especially suited - after soaking - for those horses prone to choke and 16+ years old senior animals affected by chewing issues.

Thanks to its low content of NSC (non-structural carbohydrates) it is the firstchoice feed for horses and ponies prone to carbohydrates-associated disorders (laminitis, colic, equine metabolic syndrome, equine Cushing/PPID, chronic diarrhoea, and gastric ulcers) or already suffering of such conditions.

We recommend the daily consumption of good quality forage for at least 2% (as dry matter) of the horse’s body weight.

Minimum of 2 kg of Pellettone per kg 100 of body weight i.e. 10 kilos or more per day for a kg 500 horse.

One pallet of Pellettone provides the feeding of a kg 500 horse over a period of 12-16 weeks.

We also recommend providing horses a free access to regular supply of clean fresh water and salt.
