This raw material provides sustenance for the majority of animal species and can be considered a complete food.
The dehydration process makes it possible to fully preserve all the valuable nutritional and organoleptic characteristics of alfalfa, which, if used in the form of hay, would lose many of its properties. Alfalfa is an irreplaceable friend of nature because it requires neither chemical fertilisers nor pesticide treatments.
It easily adapts to unfavourable soil and environmental conditions, enriches the soil with mineral elements and has a beneficial effect on the hydrogeological characteristics of the ground. For all these reasons, alfalfa is an indispensable crop for the transition to organic methods of production.
And in recent years, the Carli Group has turned a large part of its efforts precisely to the sector of organic crop growing, where it has expanded its activities from forage to cereals - not only for animal feeds but also for human consumption.
The Carli Group is presently the leading producer of organic cereals and alfalfa in Italy.
Its contribution to the safeguarding of the Earth's environment may be considered the equivalent of a hypothetical 4-metre-wide belt extending for the entire equatorial circumference, which thanks to the group companies is cultivated without the use of chemicals.
